“Besame Mucho” pinup movie poster of Erika from Philadelphia. Enrique, who is very passionate about his wife Erika, contacted me to commission a surprise pinup portrait of her. They are a young Puerto Rican couple from Pennsylvania very involved with their culture, community and Puerto Rican history. Enrique’s only request was to add their Taino sun, ( indigenous Puerto Rican symbol) gardenia flowers, beaches of the Caribbean, and somehow add their dog Tego in the art. While I was giving Erika the artistic 1940s makeover, I made the entire image into a vintage movie posters from the mid century.
